About Rebecca Basford

Rebecca Basford founded Artful Living with the belief that art has the power to create connection, tell stories, and transform the places where we live, work, heal, and gather. Her practice is built on deep relationships — with artists, clients, communities, and the places she works — and guided by a genuine conviction that thoughtfully placed art changes how people experience the world around them.

Throughout her career, Rebecca has guided clients through the planning, commissioning, and implementation of public art programs, private development projects, curated collections, and artist partnerships. She is particularly skilled at navigating public art requirements, civic enhancement programs, artist selection processes, and complex stakeholder relationships — helping transform challenges into opportunities for creativity, placemaking, and community engagement.

Public art remains a central focus of Rebecca's practice. She is passionate about creating projects that strengthen community identity, celebrate local culture, and foster meaningful connections between people and place. Her experience spans every stage of the process — from strategic planning and artist selection to stakeholder engagement, fabrication, and installation.

Public art projects carry a particular weight — they belong to everyone. Rebecca approaches each one with a deep sense of responsibility to the community it will serve, the artists who create it, and the history it will one day represent. She has guided projects from initial concept through dedication ceremonies, building the relationships and trust that make lasting public art possible.

Her work in civic and community environments reflects a belief that art is not a finishing touch — it is a fundamental part of how we define and celebrate who we are as a community. Whether working with a municipality, a military installation, or a neighborhood organization, Rebecca brings the same care, rigor, and personal commitment to every project.

Living Artfully

"At the heart of Rebecca's work is a belief that art is not separate from daily life — it is woven into the places we inhabit, the stories we share, and the communities we create."

She strives to live artfully every day, approaching both her work and personal life with curiosity, purpose, and an appreciation for beauty, culture, and meaningful connection. An avid traveler, Rebecca draws inspiration from the history, architecture, and artistic traditions she encounters around the world.

She is particularly interested in how the past can be thoughtfully incorporated into the present — creating spaces and experiences that honor heritage while remaining relevant for future generations. Whether collaborating with clients, communities, or artists, Rebecca believes the most successful projects are those that tell a story, foster connection, and leave a lasting impact.

In recent years, Rebecca expanded Artful Living to include a carefully curated artist representation program — a natural extension of the relationships she has built over decades of practice. She works closely with a select group of regional, national, and international artists, helping connect their work with meaningful opportunities beyond the traditional gallery model.

Through strategic partnerships, public art commissions, hospitality projects, healthcare environments, and corporate collections, she helps artists build sustainable careers while bringing exceptional artwork to new audiences and new places.
